# Bring your own MCP tools into the chat

Register a remote MCP server and the chat calls its tools, with per-tool permissions.

Set permissions individually for each connected MCP tool.

STOCKHOLM, 23 July 2026 – The QA.tech MCP server lets a coding agent use QA.tech. Custom MCP integrations work in the other direction: the QA.tech chat uses the team's own tools.

## How it works

Add a server under Settings → Integrations → Custom MCP Integrations, authenticate with an API key or sign in with OAuth, and the chat agent picks up its tools automatically. Connections can be personal, so each teammate uses their own account, or shared across the whole project.

## Permissions per tool

Each tool can be allowed, denied, or set to require approval before it runs. Read-only tools and write/delete tools are grouped so a team sets them in bulk. From October a custom skill can list the MCP tools it relies on, and those tools only load for someone who has that server connected, so sharing a skill never shares access.

## What teams do with it

Sync test cases from a test management tool, look up records in an internal system, file items in a tracker the chat does not integrate with natively. The chat asks the connected server and does the work in the same conversation as the test run.

## About QA.tech
